Dr. Diane Neal will be joining the NCCU SLIS faculty in the Fall 2007 semester.
Dr. Neal was most recently an Assistant Professor in the School of Library and Information Studies at Texas Woman's University where she taught courses in Web site development, library technology systems, indexing and abstracting, systems analysis and design, and information storage and retrieval. A former systems librarian, she has also worked as an application developer, a Webmaster, and a database administrator.
Dr. Neal holds a BA in Spanish, an MS in Information Science with an Information Systems concentration, and a PhD in Information Science, all from the University of North Texas. Her research areas include multimedia indexing and retrieval, information architecture, information seeking and retrieval in context, and the implementation of new technologies in libraries. She is the co-chair of the Visualization, Images, and Sound Special Interest Group within the American Society for Information Science and Technology.
