Dr. Yoo Receives Grant to Study Undergraduates' Selection of Information Sources

[Dr. Yoo] NCCU SLIS Assistant Professor Dr. Eun-Young Yoo has received a $5,000 Faculty Scholary/Creative Productivity Initiative grant from the Office of the Provost at North Carolina Central University. The title of Dr. Yoo's proposal is "Understanding Undergraduates' Selection of Information Sources."

As the proposal's abstract notes, "The study will examine how and why users prefer and select certain information sources over others and how different user and source characteristics influence the source selection. A total of 250 undergraduate students from a public HBCU university will participate in the study. Data will be collected through a combined method of a self-administered survey and personal interview. The source profiles and the user preference profiles developed from this study will be particularly useful to libraries and other organizations involved in selecting and promoting the information sources for users. The results of the study will provide useful information on the new direction of the library education for the undergraduates in the era of rapidly changing technology."
