The NCCU ASIST Chapter will hold a business and planning meeting Tuesday, April 13, 5:15 pm, in the Student Lounge (333 Shepard). Please plan to attend.
The Chapter needs volunteers to be officers, set up a Web page, and lead ASIST in 2004.
The national office for ASIST (the American Society for Information Science and Technology) just mailed Dr. Swain a box full of application forms and brochures. If you can't attend but want a form, let Dr. Swain know. Otherwise, you can join as a student (only $30 compared to $150 if not a student) by going online to http://www.asis.org.
What are the benefits? Your membership and participation can be referenced on your resume. Plus, you can volunteer to assist next year at the conference when it comes to Charlotte (Oct. 28-Nov. 2, 2005). Free attendance for your time!? A great chance to meet leading Information Scientists from around the world!? Chapter activities will depend on you, but could include: officers, fundraisers (can help with dues), speakers, field trips, meetings, networking opportunities, doctoral degree ideas.
