ASIST Student Chapter

Interested in joining the NC Central Student Chapter for the American Society for Information and Technology (ASIST)? MLS and MIS students welcome. If you have ever read a JASIST article or a conference paper in the annual proceedings, you know the high quality of scholarship and professional research that ASIST represents.

For information about ASIST, student membership opportunities, reduced dues, and publications available at the web site, see : http://www.asis.org/.

What are the benefits? Your membership and participation can be referenced on your resume. Plus, you can volunteer to assist next year at the conference when it comes to Charlotte (Oct. 28-Nov. 2, 2005). Free attendance for your time!? A great chance to meet leading Information Scientists from around the world!? Chapter activities will depend on you, but could include: officers, fundraisers (can help with dues), speakers, field trips, meetings, networking opportunities, doctoral degree ideas.

To kickoff participation, Dr. Deborah Swain (Faculty Advisor) has arranged for one or two "Speeches and Snacks" as part of her classes this semester. If you can attend the following and/or would like to join ASIST Chapter, contact her at swainham@msn.com.

TUESDAY, March 16, 6:00pm, Room 333B Shepard, "Evaluating IT in Businesses," by Tracy Hollister, M.A., Research Associate, Best Practices, LLC. (LSIS 5110 Policy)
